About Shaun Lowrie

Shaun Lowrie

Shaun joined the board of Shire Housing in May 2014 as an observer then became a full member at the Annual General Meeting in August 2014.

Shaun is an experienced community development professional with extensive knowledge in community engagement, community planning, policy and governance. Shaun has been involved in developing community action plans across East Ayrshire and sharing learning at both local and national levels. Shaun is a member of the Scottish Community Development Network and also has a keen interest in the International Association for Community Development.

Outwith work, Shaun is involved in project managing the refurbishment of a local community centre, which was secured through asset transfer. This involves securing capital grant funding, risk and volunteer management and engaging with contractors to ensure completion of works. The project is estimated to be worth around £500,000.

Shaun enjoys travelling, DJing and hillwalking. In 2013, he spent 2 months volunteering in Tanzania and summitted Kilimanjaro. Currently he is also teaching himself Bulgarian!
