Simon Roberts

Simon joined the Board of Shire Housing in 2017. He is a Scottish Government civil servant with responsibility for cross-tenure house condition policy. He has worked on legislation and guidance for the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing, changes to the repairing standard, missing shares for common works, an equity loan scheme for home owners, and defects in precast reinforced concrete housing. His previous experience includes social security and corporate insolvency policy. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Scottish Traditional Building Forum. He has recently completed an MSc in Housing Studies through Stirling University. Simon grew up in Oxfordshire and has lived with his family in East Ayrshire since 2001. He is also a member of Patna Community Steering Group and the Campaign for Real Ale.
